Do You Have What It Takes to Win a Coca Cola Scholarship?

For many high school students who are interested in a college education, the cost is a huge concern, which is why funds like the Coca Cola Scholarship were founded. Schools have raised tuition prices in the past ten years and a college education may place a financial burden on the student. While there are loans available to most students, in today’s economic times, going into debt is a hard decision. Students are instead turning to scholarship organizations, hoping to fund their education through funds that recognize and reward unique traits and actions. One of these funds is through the Coca Cola Scholars Foundation.

This organization is a non-profit organization that was founded by the Coca Cola Company. It provides scholarships to approximately 1,400 students each year and awards over three million dollars in scholarships annually. The company which is based in Atlanta rewards students based on academic achievement and involvement in their communities. They are looking for students who strive to make a difference in the world and have a clear vision of their goals. The Coca Cola foundation is interested in finding the leaders of the next generation and bringing them into the spotlight before they leave high school.

Coca Cola Scholarship Helping Set The Standard

While this is not an easy task, many of the Coca Cola Scholars have gone on to be influential leaders in their communities. The selection process for the Coca Cola Scholarship is an arduous process. The process begins with a long online application. The student can start and stop the application, and save information. The form is too long to be completed in one sitting and takes a few weeks to complete.

Usually around a hundred thousand applications are received every year around the end of October. A computer scores the applications and the top twenty-five hundred applicants are selected as semi-finalists. After being informed, the semi-finalists are asked to complete another application.

That submission will result in two hundred and fifty scholars being chosen to travel to Atlanta and compete in the final step of the application process. Finally, fifty of the students are chosen as National Coca-Cola Scholars and rewarded large scholarships while the remaining two hundred students are named Regional Coca Cola Scholars and receive smaller scholarships.

The Coca Cola Scholarship is a little more difficult competition to win than other easy scholarships offered, but an involved and motivated student is an excellent candidate and should apply for the scholarship fund.
