KFC Scholarship

The KFC Scholarship is intended for high school seniors with perseverance, financial need, and the desire to attend a college in the state they currently live in. This scholarship helps with tuition, fees, books, and room and board. The award for this scholarship is a maximum of $5,000 per year, and a scholar could receive up to $20,000 over four years to help them complete a bachelor’s degree. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be high school seniors(scholarships for high school seniors), have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75, be planning to attend an in state college immediately after high school, be a US citizen or permanent resident, and demonstrate financial need. Scholars may enter into either a two year or a four year college, as long as they are on track to complete a bachelor’s degree.

The application process for the KFC Scholarship opens on the first of December each year. It closes mid-February. In March, semifinalists are contacted and asked to provide additional information in order to narrow down the finalists. Recipients of the scholarship are notified in May.

Past KFC scholarship receivers have gone on to give back to their community. For instance, one KFC scholar has spent considerable time volunteering at a food pantry, and another has participated in a famine relief event. Other KFC scholars have gone on to intern at well known companies such as Amazon.

KFC has a history of philanthropy. The KFC Foundation, established in 1999, is in charge of three programs. Disaster relief, scholarships, and a childcare program. KFC, to match their philanthropic spirit, sometimes puts out calls for their scholars to do good deeds, such as asking them to write some kind words supporting our troops.  KFC makes sure to follow up with their scholars, and they have a blog dedicated to showcasing the accomplishments their scholars have achieved during college.

The KFC Scholarship has provided opportunities to many young people. It awards roughly fifty scholarships a year, sometimes more or less, depending on the pool of applicants and funds available. The application process is fairly straightforward, and most people are eligible automatically. If you are intending on attending an in state school, or at the very least would consider it, the KFC scholarship is an amazing chance to get quite a bit of your tuition paid for.
